Sa bansang Amerika kakampi ang Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sakaling madamay sa sigalot sa Gitnang Silangan ang mga Pilipinong naroon.
Ito ang inihayag ngayong araw ni Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo.
Ginawa ng opisyal ang pahayag sa gitna ng tumitinding girian sa pagitan ng US at Iran.
Ayon kay Panelo kapag nasangkot na sa gulo ang mga Pilipinong naroon ay hindi na magiging neutral pa ang Pilipinas sa usapin.
“Hindi tayo magiging neutral. The President was very specific in saying last night that if the Filipinos are harmed, he will side with the Americans. If they will harm the Filipinos, then the President will not sit down idly and watch,” pahayag ni Panelo.
Paglilinaw ni Panelo, ang naging pahayag umano ng Pangulo ay isang babala sa magkabilang panig na hindi kasama sa away nila ang mga Pilipino lalo na ang mga overseas Filipino worker na naghahanap-buhay sa Gitnang Silangan.
Kasabay nito sa Cabinet meeting kagabi sa Malacañang ay inatasan na ng Pangulo si Special Envoy to the Middle East Sec. Roy Cimatu na magtungo sa Gitnang Silangan. Ito ay upang planuhin kung paano ligtas na maiaalis doon ang mga Pilipinong posibleng maaapektuhan ng nagbabadyang kaguluhan.
Inatasan na rin ni Duterte si Presidential Adviser on Overseas Filipino Workers Abdullah Mamao na magtungo sa Iran at kausapin ang mga opisyal doon upang ipaabot na wala sanang madamay na mga Pilipino sa lumalalang tensyon sa naturang rehiyon.
Ayon naman kay Cimatu, nakikipag-ugnayan na rin sila sa Department of Foreign Affairs at iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno upang maiayos ang gagawing repatriation ng mga Pinoy mula sa Middle East. (DCR-TMJ)
